Looking for Hope in Dark Times: The Book of Jeremiah

Prof. Mike Lindholm

Can we find hope in dark times? Francis Schaeffer wrote, “We live in a ‘Post-Christian World.’ There is ‘Death in the City,’ and we are in need of Restoration.” Our need for restoration today mirrors the times of the prophet Jeremiah, and there is much we can learn from this "weeping prophet". Professor Michael Lindholm brings the pages of Scripture to life in this in-depth study of the Book of Jeremiah.

Wednesday (6-9)

Understanding Biblical and Systematic Theology

Prof. Michael Bouterse

The Bible is the most popular book of all time, loved by believers, scorned by skeptics, debated by academics, and dissected by theologians. But how are we intended to understand God's Word, which comes to us in such a daunting and powerful work of literature? Should we use a systematic approach, topically categorizing its lessons and content? Or are the 66 books of the Bible intended to be seen as one coherent whole? Professor Michael Bouterse journeys through these and related questions by exploring how the Bible presents a unified story that centers around Jesus.

Thursday (6-9)

Formed in Christ: A Theology of Spiritual Formation

Dr. Dan Holcomb

If you want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, you would probably find his workout plan and then go and do those things fervently. We all seek to be like our heroes, right? That is the root of the popular saying “What Would Jesus Do?” People who follow Jesus usually seek to understand and know how Jesus might act in certain situations, in other words, they want to “look” like Him, not physically, as in the example above, but spiritually. In this class we will discover how to be “formed in Christ”, we will explore the practices of Jesus, and seek to discover and emulate His life and how to be “transformed by the renewing of our minds.”
