Lies Satan tells

Man Reading the Definition of Faith

[WP-Coder id="1"]

(just a few of the worst)

  • Being godly is an impossible goal (Ephesians 6:16; 2 Peter 1:3, 4).
  • Sin is inevitable but will not do any permanent damage (John 10:10; Romans chapter 6).
  • Satan and evil are more powerful than God, and will win in the end (Isaiah 14; Ezekiel 28; Romans 16:20; Revelation 12:8, 20:7–10).
  • The devil lies about his power and your powerlessness:
  • He tells us that he is all–powerful (he’s not).
  • He insists that we are powerless (we are, but our Lord is not).
  • If you had a bad past you can only have a bad future (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  • You are worthless and you can never succeed.
  • The devil lies about our feelings:
  • He says, “You can’t control your feelings of guilt, anger, fear or depression” (Romans 8:1; Ephesians 4:26; 1 John 4:18; 2 Corinthians 7:5–7).
  • You can never forgive those who have wronged you (Matthew 6:14, 15; Matthew 18).
  • The devil lies about our happiness:
  • If you don’t put yourself first in life, you will be unhappy, even miserable (Mark 9:35).
  • Living a life of sin is more fun than living for God (1 Timothy 6:10).
  • The more stuff you have, the happier you will be (Luke 12:15–21; 1 Timothy 6:6–10).
  • If you’re unhappy, it’s someone else’s fault (maybe God’s fault).
  • Satan lies that what you watch, read or do for entertainment doesn’t have any effect on you (Matthew 12:33–37).
  • There is nothing after this life—so what you do now makes no lasting difference (Hebrews 9:27

Next time: “You cannot lie to save your life!”
