When you think of theological education, what comes to mind? For many, it conjures images of seminarians preparing for pastoral ministry. But the truth is, theology isn’t just for the pulpit—it’s for the whole Church. Whether you’re a lay leader, a Sunday school teacher, a parent, a college student, or someone simply seeking to understand your faith more deeply, studying theology can transform your walk with Christ and your role within the body of believers.
At Covenant Bible Institute (CBI), we believe theological education is not reserved for a select few—it’s a gift available to every believer. That’s why our programs are designed to equip not only future pastors and missionaries but also everyday Christians who want to live out their faith with clarity, courage, and conviction.

Why Theological Education Matters for Every Believer
Theology, at its core, is the study of God and His Word. Engaging deeply with Scripture shapes how we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. It equips us to discern truth from error, to speak the Gospel with boldness, and to serve with humility and wisdom.
Let’s look at just a few ways theological education benefits all believers.

It Strengthens Personal Faith
The more we understand who God is and what He has done, the deeper our love and reverence for Him become. Studying theology helps us move beyond surface-level faith to a vibrant, rooted relationship with Christ.
It Equips Us for Daily Ministry
You don’t need to be in vocational ministry to minister to others. Whether you’re leading a Bible study, counseling a friend, or raising children in the faith, theological training empowers you with biblical knowledge and practical tools to share God’s truth in your daily life.
It Builds Confidence in Evangelism
Many believers shy away from sharing the Gospel because they feel ill-equipped to answer tough questions. A foundation in theology gives you the confidence to engage in meaningful spiritual conversations with grace and truth.
It Unifies the Church
When more members of the church are theologically informed, the body of Christ becomes stronger and more unified. It allows for deeper fellowship, more effective discipleship, and healthier congregational life.
Accessible, Practical, and Christ-Centered Education
At Covenant Bible Institute, we are passionate about making theological education accessible to everyone. Our flexible online programs are designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re a full-time worker, a busy parent, or actively serving in ministry. You can study at your own pace while receiving guidance and support from instructors who are deeply committed to your growth.
Certificate Programs
Our certificate programs, such as a Certificate in Chaplaincy or Christian Ministry, are a great starting point for those new to theological study or seeking foundational knowledge. In just one year, you’ll gain a solid grasp of Scripture, ministry principles, and personal discipleship. These certificates may be ideal for lay leaders, ministry volunteers, and anyone who wants to serve their church with greater understanding and effectiveness.
Since we offer several specialized certificates in areas like Christian Leadership and Biblical Studies, you can easily tailor your education to your calling and interests. These programs are 21 credit hours.

Diploma Programs
Looking to go deeper? Our 48-credit hour diploma programs provide more comprehensive theological training over two years. The Diploma in Practical Ministry, for example, equips students with tools for pastoral care, preaching, and church leadership. This is an excellent choice for those discerning a call to vocational ministry or long-term leadership in the church.
Diplomas also serve as a strong bridge to a full degree if you choose to continue your education. In addition to Practical Ministry, we offer diplomas in Biblical Studies and Theology.
Degree Programs
For those pursuing formal ministry or academic leadership, we’re excited to offer accredited degree programs in partnership with Kairos University. The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Thought degree offers a robust theological education rooted in Scripture and Christian tradition. This degree prepares students for graduate-level study, pastoral work, church planting, and more. With Kairos University, we also offer master’s and doctoral degrees.
At CBI, our degree program is not only intellectually rigorous—it’s spiritually enriching. We don’t just teach theology; we help you live it.
