Grow in the Word: The Diploma in Biblical Studies at CBI

If you’ve ever wished you understood the Bible more deeply—or felt the weight of spiritual responsibility in teaching or leading others—you’re not alone. Many believers, from lay leaders to everyday Christians seeking to grow in grace, find themselves desiring more confidence in Scripture, more clarity in theology, and more consistency in their study of God’s Word. The good news? You don’t need to be a pastor or go to seminary to pursue serious biblical education.

At Covenant Bible Institute (CBI), we believe that theology belongs to the whole church—not just a select few. Our Diploma in Biblical Studies was created with that conviction in mind.

Whether you’re serving in your local congregation, preparing to lead in a ministry context, or simply desiring to be more faithful in your study of God’s Word, this program offers a deep and structured journey into Scripture that is both accessible and flexible.

A Deeper Foundation for All Believers

The Diploma in Biblical Studies is designed for Christians who want more than surface-level understanding. It’s ideal for those who are regularly engaged in church life—leading small groups, teaching Sunday School, discipling others—or simply wanting to approach the Bible with greater confidence and theological depth.

This program doesn’t require previous academic credentials or ministry experience. What it does require is a hunger for the Word and a desire to grow. The curriculum walks students through the major sections of Scripture, biblical theology, hermeneutics, and the unfolding redemptive story of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. It also gives attention to biblical languages, helping students learn the basics of how the Old and New Testaments were written and how meaning is drawn from the original texts.

By the end of the program, students will be able to read Scripture with clarity, interpret it faithfully, and apply it wisely—skills that serve every believer, no matter their specific role in the church or world.

What You’ll Learn

The Diploma in Biblical Studies includes 48 credit hours of instruction. These courses are curated to give students a comprehensive understanding of the Bible’s content, structure, and theological message.

While academic in nature, the goal of the program isn’t just head knowledge—it’s transformation. We want students to grow in love for God’s Word and in their confidence to share and teach it to others. The program is structured for those who are serious about growing but who may also be balancing full-time jobs, families, or active ministry.

Who Is It For?

One of the most exciting aspects of this program is how broadly it can serve. Are you a lay leader in your church, helping to teach or lead small groups, and wanting to do so with greater biblical integrity? Are you a young adult discerning a call to ministry or further theological study? Are you a faithful church member simply wanting to know the Bible better for personal spiritual growth?

The Diploma in Biblical Studies is for you. It’s designed to meet everyday Christians where they are—and walk with them into deeper understanding, richer faith, and greater usefulness in the body of Christ. You don’t need to leave your job, uproot your life, or be a full-time student to pursue serious Christian education. CBI makes it possible to do this right where you are.

Flexible Formats That Fit Your Life

One of the most significant updates to CBI’s academic offerings is the expansion of how and when you can take classes. For the first time, students can now choose three new flexible formats, making theological education more available than ever before.

8-week quarters provide a balanced hybrid approach, combining weekly in-person class meetings with online assignments and lectures. This is a great option for students who live near campus and enjoy face-to-face learning while needing some scheduling flexibility.

4-week modules are fully online and meet via Zoom on Wednesday evenings, from 6:00–8:45 PM. These are ideal for working adults, parents, or anyone with a packed schedule who wants consistent, short-term classes without commuting.

1-week intensives are immersive, in-person courses held Monday through Friday evenings, from 6:00–8:30 PM. These provide an accelerated learning experience and allow students to complete a full course in just one week—perfect for those who prefer to focus on one subject at a time and can commit to a concentrated schedule.

Built on a Faithful Foundation

Covenant Bible Institute exists to serve the church through accessible, affordable, and academically sound theological education. Every course, every instructor, and every program is shaped by a high view of Scripture, a Gospel-centered theological framework, and a deep love for the church.

Our faculty are not only academically trained but also actively involved in ministry. They bring real-world experience and pastoral insight into the classroom—helping students connect biblical truth with practical life and ministry. CBI is not about learning in isolation. It’s about discipleship, community, and growth in Christ together.

And because CBI is committed to keeping education affordable, the Diploma in Biblical Studies remains a cost-effective way to pursue deep theological training without the burden of overwhelming debt. Students can take one class at a time or move quickly through the program—it’s up to you.
